Pathological and immunohistochemical aspects of acute megakaryoblastic leukaemia in a cat – Short communication

Abstract An adult, mixed-breed, feline leukaemia virus (FeLV-) positive female cat was presented with mucosal jaundice and a history of anorexia constipation for three days. Physical examination revealed splenomegaly, cachexia, dehydration. Humane euthanasia conducted, followed by postmortem examination. Grossly, the icteric, hepatomegaly multifocal white spots splenomegaly. Histologically, bone marrow nearly completely replaced proliferation megakaryocytes megakaryoblasts, there fibrous connective tissue. Similar neoplastic observed infiltrating liver, lymph nodes, spleen, kidney, skeletal muscle, lungs. Immunohistochemistry performed von Willebrand Factor (VWF), CD79α, CD3, immunodeficiency virus, FeLV, CD61. Marked cytoplasmic labelling in cells VWF CD61, corroborating diagnosis acute megakaryoblastic leukaemia.
